Pardew's team looked doomed until their first away win of the season at Portsmouth on January 20 sparked a haul of 14 points from eight games. Now they can overtake fourth-bottom Sheffield United, at least until the Blades take on Newcastle tomorrow.

Psychological boost: Alan Pardew says Charlton can move out of the bottom three
"Getting out of the bottom three would be a major psychological boost and it's something we are looking for over Easter," said the Charlton boss.
"It's always good to have that feeling that you are not in the relegation places. We want to drag other clubs into it.
"We've done remarkably well to get within touching distance of some of the clubs who were well away from us and now we need to overhaul them — that's the toughest part of the job."
Pardew took his players to Manchester United's training ground at Carrington ahead of today's key fixture and they will be cheered on by more than 2,000 fans expected to make the journey to Eastlands.
Charlton's former City defender Ben Thatcher hopes to be fit after being sidelined by a knee injury for three games and with his former manager Stuart Pearce revealing that his transfer window move to The Valley was not related to his horror tackle on Portsmouth's Pedro Mendes but because of his uncompromising attitude in training.
City boss Pearce said: "Ben at times would train with that same ferocity that he would play the game. Sometimes that cost him because he probably picked up as many injuries on the training pitch as he did on a match day.
"I think in some way his wholeheartedness cost him. But we do miss a bit of him in the dressing room, he has a good heart and was always fantastic to have around."
