Pique 'lives the dream' at Barca again after return from Manchester United
27 May 2008
Gerard Pique has described his return to Barcelona from Manchester United as a
"dream come true".
The 21-year-old rejoined the Catalan giants for an undisclosed fee, rumoured to be around £6million today, after agreeing a four-year deal with the club he left in 2004 at the age of 17 to join United.
"It is a dream to return to Barca," he told Barca TV.
"When I left I thought it would be very difficult to come back and now my dream has come true."
Back home: Spanish defender Gerard Pique is unveiled as Barcelona's latest signing.
Pique arrives at the Nou Camp as a European champion after his club won the Champions League last week, and the young Catalan is now keen to repeat his
success with the club he has supported since childhood.
"As a player you grow a lot, personally and in a footballing sense," he said of his time in Manchester.
"In this last aspect you learn a lot just by being surrounded by players of such a high level.
"With Manchester United we won the Champions League, which is an unforgettable
experience and one which I would like to repeat in a Barca shirt."
Finally, he declared there was only club he would have left England for, despite only making 12 appearances for the Premier League side in four seasons.
"Barca was the first and only option," he said. "Once Barca and United reached an agreement, everything was very simple."
Pique becomes the second player to join Barca this summer following the arrival of Seydou Keita from Sevilla yesterday.
