Players not too Keane as Ireland's search for a boss continues

The Tottenham striker sat on the fence and towed the party line in the build-up to Ireland's prestigious friendly with Brazil, backing the Irish Football Association's drawn out process to find Stephen Staunton's successor.

Testing times: Keane admites the players are frustrated
But it is now 106 days since Staunton was sacked as Republic of Ireland coach and, as favourites Terry Venables and Giovanni Trapattoni wait for the FAI's three-man panel to conclude their final interviews for the post, players in the Ireland squad are growing increasingly restless.
Liverpool defender Steve Finnan and Bolton centre-half Andy O'Brien have already quit the Ireland scene, with O'Brien refusing a call-up for this friendly despite a late plea from caretaker manager Don Givens earlier this week.
On the night he was named Ireland's player of the year, Manchester City captain Richard Dunne described the farce as "madness" and warned players were ready to walk.
Keane believes players will back the new manager and stay once the appointment is made.
The Ireland skipper said: "It's not up to me. I'm sure we will find out in the next 10 days or so. Regardless of who it is, I don't mind who takes over as long as they have the best interests in Ireland and want to do well for the team.
"That's what the team are interested in. The one thing I can say is whoever does take over will have a great set of lads here to work with and players who really want to do well.
"People have their own opinions and you have to ask them. If people are going to retire they're going to have their own reasons to do that.
"I can't really comment for them, I can only comment on what would be my situation and there's no way at this moment in time that I'm going to be retiring."
IRELAND (4-4-2): Given; Kelly, Dunne, O'Shea, Kilbane; Duff, Carsley, Miller, McGeady; Keane, Doyle.
BRAZIL (4-1-3-2): Julio Cesar; Rafinha, Alex, Luisao, Marcelo; Gilberto Silva; Josue, Diego, Anderson; Luis Fabiano, Robinho.
