Pompey boss Redknapp: I'd love England job but I can't see it coming my way

Redknapp has worked wonders in two spells at Fratton Park, first leading them into the Premier League and then helping to establish them in the top flight thanks to the financial backing of owner Alexandre Gaydamak.
England's failure to qualify for Euro 2008 has cost McClaren his job, and Redknapp told Sky Sports News: "I don't think anybody would. Anybody would love to manage the country, sure, but I wouldn't see it coming my way to be truthful. It's all ifs and buts. All I am worried about is going to Birmingham on Saturday and getting three points."
Redknapp believes the man who could have revolutionised the England team was Glenn Hoddle, who steered England to the second round of the World Cup in 1998 but lost his job after going public with his belief that disabled people were paying for sins committed in a past life.
"Glenn Hoddle was the person for the England job, he had really strong beliefs about the way the game should be played," Redknapp added.
"Unfortunately things cost Glenn his job but if he had kept the job he would have got us playing some fantastic football. He was the perfect man for the job.
"Who knows who they will appoint now? I have seen (Russia coach) Guus Hiddink's name being mentioned, (but) he couldn't get a result in Israel on Saturday when he really wanted it so, I don't know."
