With West Ham and Newcastle in the hunt for the ex-Chelsea star, Redknapp will pounce for Gudjohnsen if he fails with a £10m bid for former Pompey striker Peter Crouch.
Redknapp said: "Eidur is a good player, a proper player and it does look like he will be leaving Barcelona. He is someone I know and is friends with my son Jamie."
