Portsmouth keeper David James sounds a warning to Fulham: If we don't try, it's a travesty

David James has called on his Portsmouth team-mates to protect the integrity of the Barclays Premier League against Fulham tomorrow.

Birmingham and Reading are hoping that their main relegation rivals will not be given an easy ride at Fratton Park.

Trying time: David James is not going to make it easy as Fulham look to survive

James, who is hoping to recover from a calf injury to play tomorrow, said: 'The last thing I'd want as a professional footballer is to see a team win against a team that isn't even trying.

'It's a bit of a concern. What you might call a wonderful conundrum. With the FA Cup Final coming up, and what for a lot of our players will be the biggest game of their lives, no-one wants to get injured. And I'm sure the manager won't thank anyone if they do get injured.

'But there are three teams who will be affected by the result of our game and if two go down because we didn't try that would be a travesty. It should be the worst three teams who are relegated.'
