But Blues are ready to make a a £1million bid when the transfer window reopens January. In the meantime, they could sign 27-year-old Sierra Leone star Mohammed Kallon if he continues to impress while training with the club.
He scored in a 6-0 win against Kidderminster Harriers played behind closed doors and impressed manager Steve Bruce.
Kallon is a free agent after his contract was paid up by Monaco and is eager to try his fortune in the premier League after playing for Saudi Arabian side Al Ittihad last season.
"He's training with us and getting into shape. If he can do us a turn, then we're in pole position to sort something out," said Blues boss Steve Bruce.
Chelsea have agreed to pay Millwall £175,000 for their 6ft 5in, 15-year-old academy keeper Sam Walker while West Ham will move for Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner when the transfer window opens.
Rumour of the day: Derby boss Billy Davies is considering talks with Leicester City about the managerial vacancy at the walkers Stadium after reports the rams are already lining up his replacement following a poor start to the season.
No chance: Sheffield United are set to lose out to Lazio in the race to land Italian striker Fabio Vignaroli, who is a free agent after leaving Bari at the end of last season.
