Premier League Rumour Mill: Blues losing faith that Yeung will ever take over

Birmingham chief David Gold is losing faith in Carson Yeung's bid to take control of the St Andrews club.

Far East tycoon Yeung has pledged to buy Blues before a Christmas deadline expires. But since meeting with the Birmingham board last month he has been silent - raising fears the deal could fall through.

"At the moment the deal is not done and over the past two weeks I have gone from being 90 per cent sure that the sale would go through to about 75 per cent," said Gold.

"I can't give any reason for that but I just don't have the same confidence that I had two weeks ago - and I think David Sullivan feels the same.

"Only Carson Yeung can pull out of this by failing to meet the deadline. Myself and David Sullivan have given our word that we will sell. But it's all a case of 'show me the money'.

"That's what this is all about and nothing more has gone on since our last meeting. We don't have to sell and the club will carry on as usual if we don't sell."

Manchester United are set to sign defenders Wes Brown and Patrice Evra to long-term deals. Brown is ready to agree a deal to keep him at Old Trafford for another four years while Evra has been offered a five-year contract worth £15m.

Joe Royle is poised for talks with Wigan chairman about the vacant manager's job but MK Dons manager Paul Ince and Real Sociedad boss Chris Coleman have also been linked with the vacancy at the JJB Stadium.

Chelsea manager Avram Grant says two players have confronted him to say they are unhappy at Stamford Bridge while Reading have extended Turkey youth international Jem Karacan's loan deal by another month.

Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy, meanwhile, is hoping to sign a new contract at Craven Cottage.

Rumour of the day: Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez is weighing up a £10m move for Racing Santander central defender Ezequiel Garay.

No chance: Portsmouth are ready to pull of out a deal to sign Tiago Gomes as his club, Estrela da Amadora, own only half of his contract and they fear a Carlos Tevez-style wrangle.
