Punters plan Voy joy after Kauto pulled out of Tingle

Champion chaser Voy Por Ustedes could start the odds-on favourite in Saturday's Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown after Paul Nicholls decided against running Kauto Star.

Coral cut the Alan King-trained gelding to 11-8 from 6-4 after reporting a string of big bets for a chaser yet to finish out of the first two in 10 completed starts over fences.

Tingle Creek favourite: The odds for Voy Por Ustedes are tumbling after Kauto Star was withdrawn

Simon Clare, the bookmaker's spokesman, said: 'We've seen several four-figure bets on Voy Por Ustedes and even though we have cut him to 11-8 the money is still coming.

'If the support continues, he could easily go off odds-on.'

Voy Por Ustedes was caught on the line on his reappearance in a handicap at Cheltenham when attempting to concede almost two stone to Kalca Mome. But it is hoped that he will emulate Kauto Star, who followed his handicap comeback defeat at Aintree last month by showing considerable improvement when landing the Grade One Betfair Chase.

Barry Simpson, racing manager to Voy Por Ustedes' owner Sir Robert Ogden, said: 'Alan is delighted with him. He feels he has progressed since Cheltenham and we could not be happier with him.'

Voy Por Ustedes was second in the Tingle Creek last year to Kauto Star, who has won the last two runnings. Nicholls had entered the Cheltenham Gold Cup winner again but ultimately felt that taking in the race again might jeopardise his chance in the King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day, less than three weeks later.

Nicholls relies on Twist Magic and rider Sam Thomas to win him the big Saturday chase for the third week following Kauto Star (Betfair Chase) and Denman (Hennessy).

Fears have been expressed that the rain that has prompted Sandown to call an inspection this morning will turn the going heavy and against Twist Magic.

He favours faster conditions and drifted out to 24-1 on Betfair this week but Nicholls said last night that he would take his chance.

Nicholls said: 'I was getting worried but I've spoken to the owners and he definitely runs. We've looked back at his form and he won on heavy going at Auteuil.'
