Queiroz hits back at claims United are unsettling Sporting star Veloso

Manchester United have hit back at Sporting Lisbon after being accused of trying to unsettle Miguel Veloso.

United's assistant manager, Carlos Queiroz, confirmed the 21-year-old midfielder is on their wish list.

Miguel Veloso battles with Michael Carrick as Sporting took on United

Sporting president Filipe Soares Franco said: "I can only regret Queiroz's declaration about Veloso. Queiroz made unacceptable insinuations."

Queiroz said: "The club president is just trying to deflect away criticism of his team after we beat them."

Meanwhile, Gary Neville pulled out of United's reserve match with Sunderland last night.
