Ramos has Spurs at the double on his first day

Tottenham's players had only just begun to recover from their 2-1 defeat against Blackburn on Sunday when Ramos revealed that they would be put through two separate sessions.

This is my plan: Ramos with assistant Gus Poyet
The former Sevilla coach faces Championship strugglers Blackpool in the Carling Cup in his first game in charge of the club on Wednesday and he is determined to get off to a winning start at White Hart Lane.
Although Spurs officials claim that the exercise was designed for the manager to familiarise himself with the first-team squad, it is understood that Ramos has huge reservations over their fitness.
Spurs have conceded five times in the 90th minute (Sunderland, Fulham, Arsenal, Liverpool and Blackburn) this season, costing them seven Premiership points and a comfortable mid-table position.
Ramos armed himself with DVDs of Tottenham and England matches after he was originally courted by Daniel Levy in August and he identified the players' fitness as an immediate area for improvement.
That task began at Spurs Lodge yesterday with his assistant Marcos Alvarez, who has been brought in from Sevilla, and former Tottenham midfielder Gus Poyet.
Stand-in skipper Robbie Keane, who scored Tottenham's penalty against Blackburn, said: 'Juande's record speaks for itself and I am looking forward to working with him.
'If he can bring the success he had with Sevilla, then no one will complain. He obviously has a presence about him from what he's done before and what he's achieved.
'It's the same when any new manager comes in — you have to respect him. We're not far off putting things right, although things seem a million miles away when we keep losing.'
It is the first time the Spurs squad have trained twice in the same day since Martin Jol punished the players after their 3-1 defeat against Everton at White Hart Lane back in August.
That tactic made little difference — they went on to win just one Premiership match before the Dutchman was sacked last Thursday — but Ramos made an immediate impression on the training ground yesterday.
He was also assisted by Clive Allen, who oversaw the defeat against Blackburn in his sole game in charge as caretaker manager, but the former Spurs striker will be sidelined in the coming months.
According to Spurs sources, Ramos is a man on a mission after arriving from Sevilla and he is expected to make a raft of changes in the transfer window.
Sportsmail revealed last Saturday that the Spaniard has a budget of £40million to improve the squad and a goalkeeper is his priority, along with an experienced central defender.
Ramos' decision to quit Spain for the Premier League means he has left a trail of destruction behind him at Sevilla.
Despite their handsome 3-0 victory over Valencia in La Liga on Sunday, Sevilla's hierarchy are still getting used to the idea of life without the man who led the club to successive UEFA Cups.
Ramos would like to bring Fredi Kanoute back to White Hart Lane, but Sevilla president Jose Maria Del Nido warned the club's former coach that approaches for their star players will not be welcome.
He said: 'Tottenham will get the response from Sevilla that they deserve — and that response will be to channel all our energy into getting what we deserve after the way they have behaved.'
