Ramos sees upside in Dimitar snapping again

Dimitar Berbatov sealed Tottenham's UEFA Cup win here with his third goal of the season, but it did not stop him furiously remonstrating with team-mates.

Angered by continued speculation over his future, the frustrated Bulgarian lost his cool with Aaron Lennon and Robbie Keane as Spurs laboured to victory.

Underwhelmed: Berbatov shows no delight after his goal last night

But new boss Juande Ramos insisted such public displays of anger can only benefit his struggling side. "I think it is positive from the point of view that the players want to take advantage of all the opportunities," he said.

"I think there were occasions where we should have done better to try to get another goal.

"That is possibly the reason why there are some differences among the players. But I think that ambition to do things well is positive."

Earlier in the day, Berbatov criticised reports linking him with a move away.

The 26-year-old told the Spurs website: "The fans love the club and they have been behind me ever since my first game. I appreciate them the most and I want to tell them that I am not going anywhere."

Keane focused on the result, saying: "We had a few good chances and we finished the job off in the first half.

"We are very pleased with the win but the most important thing was the clean sheet."

Ramos admitted his thoughts started turning to Sunday's clash against Wigan when the win was effectively sealed with Keane's volley and Berbatov's header in the first half.

Hopes of Hapoel getting back in the game evaporated early in the second half when Gal Shish was dismissed for his second bookable offence.

Ramos said: "It was a typical UEFA Cup game and winning was very important for us after losing the first group game.

"I was impressed with the performance, although we did not play at our best and I was also thinking about the Wigan match. I saw the team grow in confidence and I am confident about Sunday."

Ramos had Younes Kaboul on the bench but claimed it was down to squad rotation, not the fact that the French defender has looked shaky in his last few appearances.
