Ramos: There will be no 'untouchables' at Tottenham

Tottenham boss Juande Ramos is prepared to rip apart his squad to find further success.

The Spaniard will sell any players who do not meet his standards and replace them with new faces when he receives budget approval from club chairman Daniel Levy.

Ramos will wait until the last match of Tottenham's season before agreeing his restructuring plan for the club he is being paid to turn into Premier League champions.

It is clearly going to be a major upheaval and just how big will be decided by the form of established stars such as Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane as well as the fringe players.

Ramos has guaranteed Spurs European football next season as League Cup winners.

While he is pleased with the progress made since his arrival from Sevilla, there are players whose desire and commitment to Tottenham will continue to be tested over the next few weeks.

Ramos, unhappy at the way Spurs succumbed to UEFA Cup defeat in a penalty shoot-out against PSV, will use this afternoon's Premier League match against Sven Goran Eriksson's Manchester City as the first test.

'What I am interested in is to see how my players respond to the other night in Europe and how they perform until our very last fixture,' he said. 'These matches are important. There are many games yet to play, enough for the players to show what qualities they've got and what kind of standards they can achieve.

'It is important to see how they perform — it is their challenge. I would be disappointed if the players relaxed at this stage. It is not something I would be able to understand. As professionals we know we've got to fight for every game until the end of the season.'

There will be no 'untouchables' at Tottenham, although Ramos wants Berbatov to stay and he believes he will 'if nothing strange or untoward happens'.

He added: 'You do not talk about individuals but a squad and the structure of a squad. You want players who have all the qualities to take the club forward. It is not about individual players.

'What I will always do is my best for the squad and the team. I can't be concerned that a player will be upset at being left out for a particular match.

'I will make my decision by selecting the team according to the game's requirements.'
