Ramos: We've won nothing this century so let's end the White Hart Lane trophy drought

Juande Ramos insists he is determined to mastermind Tottenham's route to the Carling Cup final and end the club's long wait for silverware.

More Spurs news

The Spaniard won three trophies in the last two years with Sevilla and is now intent on ending Tottenham's cup drought by finally defeating Arsenal.

Ramos has a taste for knockout glory and brought a Copa del Rey and back-to-back UEFA Cups to Sevilla before quitting for White Hart Lane.

But Spurs have not won a trophy since 1999, the same year they last defeated their great North London rivals.

And they famously blew last year's semi-final against the Gunners after being 2-0 up in the first leg. But Ramos wants a positive result at the Emirates tonight to ensure his side are still in the tie for the second leg.

His team were narrowly beaten 2-1 in last month's Premier League clash but he insisted: "We want to reach a final because it's a long time since we've done it. We're professional players and we want to do everything possible for Tottenham to win.

"We were close to winning last month but if we get a result there and then do well in the second leg we can do it."

Ledley King's return from injury is expected to help tighten a Spurs defence short on confidence.

And the Tottenham skipper, who was also injured for last season's semi-final, added: "It's in our hands and we will have the second leg back at White Hart Lane this time, so hopefully we can set it up nicely in the first leg tonight."
