Ramprakash made to wait for 100th hundred

Mark Ramprakash will have to wait to score his 100th first-class ton after falling for only 17 on the first day of Surrey's County Championship Division One match against Hampshire. The former England batsman, 38, edged seamer James Tomlinson behind to wicketkeeper Tom Burrows to curtail his bid to become the 25th man to score a century of centuries.

England hopeful Chris Tremlett did most of the damage with five for 67 as Surrey were dismissed for 278. Hampshire closed on 13-1.

Ramprakash: Not dancing with delight

Twenty wickets fell at Trent Bridge as tabletoppers Nottinghamshire took an 89-run firstinnings lead against Lancashire.

The visitors were bowled out for 113, with Darren Pattinson taking six for 30, but responded to dismiss Notts for 202. Lancashire closed their second innings on four without loss.
