Rangers reject Fulham's £2m offer for Cousin

But new Craven Cottage manager Roy Hodgson is likely to return in with an improved offer for the Gabon international after a proposed £5m deal for Watford striker Marlon King collapsed last Friday when the player failed a medical.
Cousin has a £3m exit clause but it only takes effect at the end of the season, so Rangers will have to weigh up any improved Fulham offer against the time left in the transfer window for Walter Smith to sign a replacement that would boost his chase for silverware.
Aston Villa striker Luke Moore is on Smith's radar and is rated in the £3m bracket by Martin O'Neill - so there could be some hectic activity over the next few days if relegation-threatened Fulham come back with a fresh offer for Cousin.
The man who signed for Lens for around £1m has been angling for a move to the Premiership almost from the moment he arrived at Ibrox in August.
At times, Cousin's commitment has been questioned by the Rangers support, while there have been a series of statements attributed to the player expressing his wish to leave.
In an interview with a French newspaper, the 30-year-old spoke of a drink culture at Rangers, although that row was papered over when he insisted he had been misquoted.
Cousin, who turns 31 next month, has scored nine goals in 19 starts and hit the winner against Gretna at Fir Park last Wednesday.
Former Finland manager Hodgson made his interest official yesterday but Smith has stated often enough he has no wish to diminish a squad in which his other striking options are Kris Boyd, Jean-Claude Darcheville, Nacho Novo and Steven Naismith.
Darcheville has been hit by injuries and faces a three-match UEFA ban, while Rangers are already without midfielder Kevin Thomson for the Panathinaikos double-header next month.
