Knockout: Cousin celebrates his goal with Broadfoot
"It's only half-time," Ferguson said. "We know they're a quality team and we expect a tough game in Germany. So we're not taking anything for granted. We're only halfway there."
Bremen had no answer to Rangers, who were at them from the start.
Goalkeeper Tim Wiese produced a great save after a thunderous shot from Charlie Adam, who was then just off target with a lob from a yard inside the Bremen half.
Rangers' pressure paid off in the final minute of the first half.
Cousin hit a powerful shot from 35 yards to beatWiese and Rangers were two up within three minutes of the restart when Wiese could only parry Cousin's shot and Davis, on loan from Fulham, finished from six yards.
