Ravi's show is a big hit with Miller

Ravi Bopara will be hard done by if he does not win an England recall after doing just about everything humanly possible to impress selector Geoff Miller at Leicester.

Not only did Bopara smash an unbeaten 201 - a one-day record for Essex - but he then claimed two wickets with successive balls as his side swept into the semi-finals of the Friends Provident Trophy.

Bopara, who is in England's one-day line-up but not in the Test side, certainly impressed Miller, who said: "It was a fantastic knock. He had a disappointing time in the winter but he accepted why he was dropped [following the series in Sri Lanka] and worked on it. Now you see the rewards because he's not only sorted out his technique but I think he's sorted out his character as well."
