Reading won't hold back on Cech's return

There will be no kid glove treatment for Petr Cech when he goes back to Reading on Tuesday to relive the nightmare of the horrific injury that left him fighting for his life.

The Chelsea keeper had emergency surgery for a depressed fracture of the skull following a sickening collision with Steven Hunt in the same fixture last October and will come into contact with the striker on the pitch for the first time since then.

Fortunately, there was no lasting damage and the 25-year-old Czech international was back in action after a three-month absence wearing his now familiar skull-cap for protection.

In spite of Chelsea pressure and fierce criticism from manager Jose Mourinho, who accused Hunt of a deliberate foul, Reading fiercely defended the 26-year-old Irishman and he was completely exonerated.

Reading captain Graeme Murty is hoping there will be no carry-over from the events of 10 months ago, having talked to his former teammate Steve Sidwell — now at Chelsea.

"There will be no apprehension on our part," said Murty. "We have a fantastic young man in Steven Hunt and he came through his ordeal with a lot of credit. I have talked to Siddy and they're exactly the same at Chelsea. It's just another game for us all."
