Real ready to sell Robinho to Blues

Chelsea have been given renewed hope in their bid to sign Robinho after his agent revealed members of the Real Madrid board are prepared to sell the winger.

President Ramon Calderon continues to declare publicly that Robinho is staying, but talks are continuing between both clubs and agent Vagner Ribeiro is confident an agreement can be reached.

Reports in Brazil claim he has travelled to London for more negotiations with Chelsea after they made a new bid of £25.4million.

Ribeiro, who had another meeting with Calderon earlier in the week, said: "I told Calderon we have a proposal of 32m euros from Chelsea and that Robinho wants to leave.

"Robinho has said there is no point being unhappy and unproductive at the club. But Calderon said he would not sell for 100m euros (£79.25m). I left the meeting thinking that was that, but after talking to other leaders of the club I saw that this position might change."

Robinho, who has two years left on his contract, has also followed Cristiano Ronaldo and Andrei Arshavin this summer in claiming he is being treated like a slave.

Ribeiro added: "Robinho said to Calderon that he was treating him the same as [FIFA president] Sepp Blatter claimed that Manchester United were doing with Ronaldo.

"That is, slavery. If they don't let Robinho go, he will continue, sad, and in the coming year will be worth far lower than the value currently offered by Chelsea."

Meanwhile, former Blues striker Adrian Mutu is expected to lodge an appeal after FIFA ordered him to pay the club £13.68million in compensation for testing positive for cocaine while at Stamford Bridge.

The Romanian international was sacked in 2004 after failing the drugs test and was banned from the game for seven months.

A Chelsea statement said: "This is an important decision for football. The original ruling recognised the responsibilities we all have in this area."
