Real reject United's 'hands-off' bid and Robinho ready to move in Ronaldo deal

Manchester United have written to Real Madrid demanding they stop their public pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Yet, with typical abandon, the Spanish club's president Ramon Calderon says that would be a promise he could not keep.
Calderon revealed he had received a letter from United chief executive David Gill which underlined the European champions' intent to keep the player and called for Real to declare they would never sign him.

Ronaldo, 23, revealed at the weekend that he expected an announcement on his future to be made in the next two or three days and Calderon said: 'The managing director sent me a letter telling me they will never sell him and even asking me to publicly declare that I will never sign him, which is something which doesn't make much sense.
'At the moment it seems impossible for him to come. We shouldn't talk about Ronaldo any more because at the moment it's impossible. It's an aspiration which has no chance of happening because his club have said they are not selling and we must not talk about it any more.
'We have to think that at the moment, whatever Cristiano says, Manchester won't sell him. Speaking more about this will only damage the relationship between the clubs.'
However, Calderon, 57, still could not resist adding: 'We would love to have Cristiano or any of the great players. The decision will be made by the coaches.
Here, 75 million euros were paid six years ago for a 29-year-old (Zinedine Zidane) and nobody questioned it.
'There is a good relationship (with Manchester United) and I have said that if someone decides to leave, it is very difficult to keep them.'
England captain and former United and Real icon David Beckham entered the debate by urging Ronaldo to stay at Old Trafford.
He said: 'I'm sure he's at the right club and a club he should stay at, because as much as Real Madrid are a great team and one of the biggest clubs in the world, he's only just starting at Manchester United.
'He's only been there a few years and he's got a lot of people around him who will protect him.'
Real winger Robinho, however, repeated claims he could be used as a makeweight in a deal to take Ronaldo to Spain. The Brazilian said: 'There are proposals, yes. One is from Manchester United which would be in exchange for Cristiano Ronaldo and I will have no problem in leaving.'
The Spanish champions declined to comment on Robinho's claims.
The Brazilian said: "There are proposals, yes.
"One is from Manchester United which would be in exchange for Cristiano
Ronaldo and the other is from Chelsea."
Robinho played an important role in Madrid's Primera Liga title success last
season - scoring 11 goals in 32 league games - but faces an uncertain future
under Bernd Schuster.
He added: "I have never hidden my desire to remain at Real Madrid.
"But if the negotiations materialise into something I will have no problem in
leaving."
Robinho's comments will increase speculation around Ronaldo, who revealed on
Saturday he will make an announcement on his future in "two to three days".
