Pompey bound? Wright Phillips has endured a frustrating stint at Chelsea
Shaun Wright-Phillips has been shown the door at Chelsea - and Portsmouth are leading the race to sign the England international.
The Stamford Bridge outfit have begun their summer clearout before the tenure of Luiz Felipe Scolari begins on July 1 - and Wright-Phillips heads the list of exiles.
Chelsea paid Manchester City £24million for the diminutive winger in 2005, yet Wright-Phillips was so far down the pecking order that he did not merit a place on the bench during May's Champions League final.
Since joinig Chelsea, Wright-Phillips' value has diminished, with Chelsea understood to value the player at £10m, say the Independent.
Wright-Phillips tops Redknapp's summer wish list, which also includes fellow English internationals Peter Crouch and Reading's Nicky Shorey.
Pompey will tempt Liverpoool with a £10m bid for striker Crouch, while relegated Reading may not be able to refuse a £3.5m, bid for left-back Shorey.
