Redknapp looks to boost fire Pompey's fire power

Harry Redknapp has made finding strikers who can bang in more than a dozen Premiership goals each season his top summer priority.

Portsmouth's manager knows his side lack firepower and is worried they will find it difficult to consolidate their top ten position next season if they do not bring in fresh faces up front.

Main man: Kanu was Pompey's top scorer last season

"I might need a goalscorer or two," he insisted. "There's only Kanu who weighed in with goals in the league and cup last season.

"Andy Cole was unlucky and had his injuries. He didn't get as many games as he would have liked to. I still think he's capable of getting goals if he comes back.

"Benjani was fantastic for us and worked his socks off. He gave us so much but he only scored six goals. We need to get goalscorers in who can get you 15 or 20 goals a year.

"But that's what everyone is looking for, so it's difficult. They're like gold-dust. If you can get a front pair who can get you 35 goals between them, you're well on your way."
