Ribery back in action after two months - placing Chelsea on red alert

Chelsea could make a £28million move for Franck Ribery following news that he will only be out for up to two months.

It was initially thought Ribery broke his leg during France's 2-0 defeat to Italy on Tuesday but scans revealed he has torn ligaments above his ankle.

Although the Bayern Munich winger will need surgery, the fact he will not miss a large part of next season could see Chelsea launch a bid.

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: "We are happy that the severe initial diagnosis has not been confirmed."
