Yes, Italy's World Cup winner did train with Rangers at Murray Park yesterday but, no, he has not accelerated his oft-stated plan to end his career back at Ibrox.

The AC Milan midfielder is in Glasgow to visit wife Monica's family during Serie A's winter break and was a guest in the directors' box for the 3-1 win over Motherwell on Boxing Day.

So keen is Gattuso to stay sharp ahead of Milan's return to action against Napoli on January 13 that he was welcomed to yesterday's training session by the Rangers manager who set him on the road to stardom by bringing him to Ibrox as a teenager in 1997.

The 29-year-old was happy to talk over old times with Smith but a return to Govan is not on the agenda.
