Robben keen to send Real fans a message

Currently battling to overcome a knee problem to be fit for the start of the new Barclays Premier League season, Robben was not included in the squad for the FA Community Shield against Manchester United at Wembley.

Since then fellow Chelsea player Michael Ballack has come out and declared his commitment to the west-London club following reports he too could be heading to the Bernabeu.

No official word on any offer for Robben has been forthcoming from either of the teams involved.

However, in comments reported today by Spanish daily AS, Robben made no secret of his desire to take on a fresh challenge, having joined Chelsea for £12million in 2004.

"Of course Madrid's interest makes me happy," he said. "But for now I can not say much more because Chelsea will not let me tell you more until there is an agreement between the two clubs. It's better that they talk about it and solve this."

Robben, whose father and agent Hans has indicated negotiations were at a delicate stage, added: "I do not know when a deal will be reached. It's in the hands of the two clubs. My father is in charge of it all.

"I know some people are waiting for me. I would like to send a message to the Madrid fans, but I can't until my future is sorted. If it gets sorted, I'll be glad to send the people a message."

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, meanwhile, has warned his players none are untouchable when it comes to squad rotation.

Having strengthened his playing staff this summer with the signings of Claudio Pizarro, Florent Malouda, Tal Ben Haim and Steve Sidwell, Mourinho intends to ensure no-one is overworked.

And with captain John Terry set to miss the first month of the season with a knee injury and a number of other players carrying knocks it seems the Blues boss' plans may come into operation sooner rather than later.

The targets for Chelsea, however, remain the same - claiming the Premier League title back from United and also conquering Europe.

Last season, the Blues won both the Carling Cup and the FA Cup, having been knocked out of the Champions League semi-finals on penalties to Liverpool.

Striker Didier Drogba - currently sidelined because of a knee problem - maintains the Blues are determined to go for glory on all fronts again.

He told Chelsea magazine: "This season, if we could win everything it would be fantastic.

"I can't say we'll be going only for the title or only for the Champions League. We need to win as much as possible. This is our life. This is the way we live at Chelsea."
