Robert can't do any more, Curbs admits surprise at Green England snub

West Ham manager Alan Curbishley today admitted he is "surprised" that in-form goalkeeper Robert Green had not been included in Capello's first England squad.

Green has impressed this season, but Scott Carson, David James and Chris Kirkland were preferred.

Curbishley said: "I'm surprised Rob isn't in the England squad and a bit disappointed for him to be honest. There's very little more he can do."

Green's mood is in stark contrast to Aston Villa defender Curtis Davies, who was so stunned to get picked he initially thought he was the victim of a practical joke.

He said: "When I got the news I thought it was a wind up. I had to check the message several times before I realised it was genuine."
