Robinho snubs Chelsea and insists he wants to stay with ReaI Madrid

Real Madrid forward Robinho has committed his future to the Spanish club in the midst of reported interest from Chelsea.

Speculation has been rife that the Brazilian is on his way to the Premier League, with Manchester United and Chelsea favourites for his signature.

His agent, Wagner Ribeiro, claimed last Tuesday that the Blues were winning the race, with Robinho attracted by the idea of linking up with their new boss, fellow Brazilian Luiz Felipe Scolari.

This morning Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon admitted the Londoners were interested in Robinho and that talks had been held with the Spaniards about the player.

However, Robinho today declared he was happy to stay in the Spanish capital and only thinking about Real.

'I want to stay at Real Madrid for a long time,' the 24-year-old told Spanish newspaper Marca.

'I'm very happy and I want to continue. My head is calm, I want to have a good pre-season with Real Madrid and continue here.'

Reports in Spain suggest Madrid are unwilling to part with Robinho unless they can strike a deal with Manchester United for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Brazilian has also been in talks with Madrid sporting director Predrag Mijatovic, during which it is believed a new contract was discussed.

Yet neither the club nor the player have revealed the motive for these talks, with Robinho only revealing: 'It's between us.'
