Robinson blasts Tottenham's board of directors

As Spurs were fighting off renewed Manchester United interest in their star player, Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov, Robinson said: "I'm very disappointed with what's been happening at the club.

"To see how far MJ has taken the club and the strides he has taken, to then go behind his back to seek other options is very disappointing because the manager has got the full support of the players.
"It's very difficult for him because of what he has done. We are 100 per cent behind and we all hope he stays as long as possible. It's known throughout the club how the players feel.
'To question somebody's job after three games of the season is ridiculous, especially after what the man has done for the past two years.
"We've started the season better than Manchester United, we are above them in the League. Nobody is questioning Sir Alex Ferguson, so why should our manager be questioned?
"We have a large squad of players and not all of them are playing. It's very difficult to keep everyone happy but the majority of us are behind the manager. It's difficult not be unsettled (by this). We see the TV and papers like everyone and it's disappointing when you see how settled we have been for the past three seasons.' As Robinson spoke, the Spurs board were trying to fend off United's £21million offer for Berbatov. All offers have been rebuffed so far and Spurs put a £40m price tag on the 6ft 2in forward.
But Ferguson is determined to add another striker to his squad following Wayne Rooney's broken foot and specifically wants someone who can add a taller, physical presence. Scouts from across Europe were called into United's Carrington training ground last week for a briefing and Ferguson has started with Berbatov, who was regarded as one of the Premier League's outstanding performers last season with 19 goals in all competitions.
United wanted to bring Berbatov to England last year before his transfer from Bayer Leverkusen to Spurs, who had an agreement that they would have first call on the player provided they matched the £10.9m asking price. Privately, Berbatov is flattered by United's interest and would like the chance to play for them and test himself further in the Champions League. However, Spurs, who rejected United's enquiries about a £17m deal in May, will stand firm.
That leaves United considering their options, while Berbatov, who is struggling to shake off a groin injury in time to face the champions on Sunday, may now have to declare a desire to leave White Hart Lane in order to force the issue.
United have alternatives. They have been offered Newcastle's Obafemi Martins and know they could buy Nicolas Anelka from Bolton for £12m. However, they are in danger of being left with nobody as Anelka's representatives held talks with Portsmouth officials last night, with the Frenchman keen to sign for Harry Redknapp. Back at Spurs, Jol may have been given a stay of execution, but the club's interest in Juande Ramos remains very much alive.
Although the Sevilla coach gave conflicting statements about the north London club's pursuit of him yesterday, Ramos is still on the radar of chairman Daniel Levy.
Despite initial denials from Spurs officials, the club privately admit that Ramos, who has won the UEFA Cup for the past two years, is much admired by their hierarchy. Jol remains in a precarious position after a meeting at the training ground on Tuesday and the Dutchman fears Levy could still pull the trigger at any time.
Despite sending a delegation of club officials to meet Ramos in Seville last Friday, Tottenham claimed yesterday morning on their website that nobody had been offered the chance to replace Jol.
Ramos responded instantly by announcing, in great detail, that he had turned down a 'dizzying' offer from Spurs, only later attempting to clarify his comments by denying any direct offer had been made.
According to sources at White Hart Lane, the backtrack was made to protect his relationship with Spurs and leave the door open to a future move.
In Ramos's version of events, the Spaniard says he merely met a mediator from Tottenham last Friday, but that did not explain the presence of vice-chairman Paul Kemsley and secretary John Alexander in the Spanish city.
Ramos, 52, said: "I want to clarify that I haven't met Tottenham's representatives, but a mediator that would then speak to the club. It's something obviously that I cannot control. I'm being accused of having a meeting at the Hotel Rey Alfonso and I was not there.
"Regarding this situation that came on behalf of Spurs, he showed me an offer that was very interesting and dizzying, but I have a contract with Sevilla and I am to complete my contract. I was not interested in the offer because I am in a very interesting project with Sevilla."
Sportsmail revealed yesterday that the prospect of taking Sevilla, who face Milan in the European Super Cup a week tomorrow, into the Champions League for the first time was partly behind his decision to
