On his way: Paul Robinson is set to secure a move away from White Hart Lane to Aston Villa
Paul Robinson will hold talks with Aston Villa this week as he finalises his departure from White Hart Lane.
Robinson has wanted to leave since falling out with head coach Juande Ramos in January, and will drop further down the pecking order when Tottenham make PSV keeper Heurelho Gomes their new No1 in the next few days.
Spurs are demanding around £5million for Robinson, who is determined to get his career back on track at a new club.
The 28-year-old lost his England place last season after the 2-1 defeat by Russia in a Euro 2008 qualifier and his confidence at club level declined.
His relationship with Ramos deteriorated when he was dropped ahead of the Carling Cup semi-final first-leg against Arsenal in favour of back-up keeper Radek Cerny.
Robinson won his place back in time to help the club beat Chelsea in the final, but was out of the team again for the last six League games, although the club claimed this was because of injury.
Villa manager Martin O'Neill will guarantee Robinson first-team football following his refusal to turn Scott Carson's loan deal with Liverpool into a permanent move.
