Ronaldinho still gets my vote, says United old-boy Larsson

He won the Champions League with Barcelona two years ago and had he chosen to turn last season's three-month loan at Manchester United into something more permanent, Henrik Larsson could have lined up against them this week.

So are there regrets he did not stay longer at United? "When I signed the contract it was for 10 weeks," replied the Swede. "I'm happy for them that they're playing great but in terms of regrets, no."

Genius: Barcelona's Ronaldinho

Larsson is perfectly placed to assess tomorrow's leading protagonists, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

"Messi has a better left foot and Ronaldo a better right foot," is his diplomatic verdict.

"Ronaldo was fantastic last season and this season better. It's a joy to watch football the way he plays it. Now he's one of the best in the world, if not the best.

"Messi's an unbelievable talent. Unfortunately he's had injuries. He's still a kid and developing, but he's going to become even better."

Messi and Ronaldo both have some way to go before they can match Ronaldinho's former levels, in Larsson's estimation. "It'll be a long time before we see a player reaching those heights again."

So who will he be supporting tomorrow? Larsson is far too savvy to answer that one — in fact, his main concern is whether he will be able to see the game. At 36, he is due to play for his hometown club Helsinborgs at Swedish league leaders Kalmar.
