Ronaldo looks the Real thing all white as Portugal dazzle again

Cristiano Ronaldo celebrates Portugal's victory over the Czech Republic and will now be looking forward to the quarter-finals at Euro 2008

Cristiano Ronaldo dazzled in all white last night as Portugal booked themselves a quarter-final place at Euro 2008 with a 3-1 win over the Czech Republic in Geneva.

Manchester United superstar Ronaldo scored with a typically well-struck shot past Petr Cech and had a hand in both other goals for the favourites to lift the trophy on June 29.

He must have been a teasing sight for Real Madrid in kit similar to theirs - with the Spanish giants desperate to tempt him away from United.

Ronaldo and substitute Ricardo Quaresma struck second-half goals - the latter in stoppage-time - to earn their second victory from two Group A games after Libor Sionko had cancelled out Deco's opener.

"My goal is dedicted to the Red Cross," said Ronaldo, who earns £5,000 for them every time he scores. "I'm thinking about the children and that makes me very proud."

Ronaldo acknowledged his team had struggled to assert themselves in the first half, adding: "Portugal have played well in the first match and well again in this match as a team. We know how to sacrifice everything for the good of the team. We have now got a big chance but must respect our opponents."
