England job description was 'waffly'

World Cup-winning coach Wayne Smith today revealed he withdrew his interest in joining the England
set-up because the role seemed like a "public relations job".
Smith, who won the World Cup with New Zealand as Sir Graham Henry's No2 in October, was in the running for an England role and had expressed an interest in forming a partnership with ex-Springboks coach Nick Mallett.
But after receiving a description for the No2 job, Smith said: "[It was] waffly and looked like it was for the head of a PR company, rather than a rugby coach".
The 54-year-old also said the timing of the appointment, set to begin with England's tour of South Africa in June, clashed with his new role as No2 at Waikato Chiefs.
"I'm interested down the track if it fits in," he said. "That's a team that has got a fair bit of potential, but this opportunity just didn't fit in with me."
