My view on England's last Grand Slam champions and the ones going for glory

England's most capped player, and a veteran of the team who clinched the RBS Six Nations clean sweep in Dublin in 2003, runs the rule over his side and the XV expected to take the field on Saturday.

Clive's heroes

Sir Clive Woodward (Team manager)
Created the world-class performance environment that we thrived in. Always willing to try new things to give us an edge over the rest of the world.

15. Josh Lewsey
Absolutely solid at the back and a great attacking force.

14. Jason Robinson
Capable of scoring tries from anywhere on the pitch.

13. Will Greenwood
So many tries. Always in the right place at the right time.

12. Mike Tindall
Very direct but much more than a crash ball merchant.

11. Ben Cohen
Not many people could handle him. Nearest we had to Jonah Lomu.

10. Jonny Wilkinson
The Boy Wonder still has world class stamped all over him.

9. Matt Dawson
Another leader in the team. Important link with the backs.

1. Graham Rowntree
Tough, durable and mobile. A man who was as hard as nails.

2. Steve Thompson
Odd blip in the line-out but could deliver when you needed it.

3. Jason Leonard
I loved it in this team. We came through a lot together.

4. Martin Johnson (capt)
Simply the best. Hard, uncompromising and very knowledgeable about rugby.

5. Ben Kay
Called the line-outs and had a role as a leader.

6. Richard Hill
Made it so hard for the opposition in the contact areas.

7. Neil Back
A warrior, natural leader and so quick to the break down.

8. Lawrence Dallaglio
Big, tough, marauding No8. Another of our dominating forwards.

Johnno's hopefuls

Martin Johnson (Team manager)
Johnno has grown into the role, has improved and appears far more relaxed and that proves he has got it right and that the players are growing with him.

15. Ben Foden
An exciting full-back. Expect to see him all over the pitch.

14. Chris Ashton
Outstanding try-scoring ability with plenty of pace.

13. Mike Tindall (capt)

Real leader as captain with vital experience.

12. Shontayne Hape
Is getting better and better each game with a high work rate.

11. Mark Cueto
Always been pacy but is now right on top of his game.

10. Toby Flood
All-round game management is fantastic.

9. Ben Youngs
Always on the go. Has a great skills set and good pass.

1. Alex Corbisiero
Learning every game. Soaks up experience against quality props.

2. Dylan Hartley
Always had the potential to be an England hooker.

3. Dan Cole
Has become the cornerstone of the team in a key position.

4. Louis Deacon
The unsung lock. Very much in the Johnno mould.

5. Tom Palmer
Has come of age this season. Dominant in the line-out.

6. Tom Wood
Playing with an old head on young shoulders.

7. James Haskell
Is doing very well. Rightly man of the match against Scots.

8. Nick Easter
Very much old school and rises to each challenge.
