Southampton have confirmed the Trinidad and Tobago international has handed in a written transfer request and refused to play in tomorrow's home fixture with Stoke.

Burley told the club's official website, www.saintsfc.co.uk: "Kenwyne spoke to me on Tuesday and said he did not want to play against Stoke.

"He confirmed that to me again on Friday morning and I am very disappointed by that."

Derby are also tracking Saints' Jhon Viafara.
