Saints' Fozzard faces six months on the sidelines
25 February 2008
St Helens prop forward Nick Fozzard will miss six months of the new Super League season after rupturing a cruciate knee ligament against Bradford.
he club's worst fears were realised when the veteran prop had a scan on Monday, and coach Daniel Anderson said: 'Nick requires a knee reconstruction which means he will be out for five to six months, probably closer to six.

Brought down: Fozzard faces a struggle to play again this season
'It is not good for Foz and it's not good for us but we will get him repaired as quickly as possible and hope to get him back playing this year.'
Saints, last year's Grand Final runners-up, now have five experienced forwards out injured and teenage prop Gareth Frodsham recovering from concussion.
Fozzard, 30, joins Jason Cayless, Maurie Fa'asavalu, Jon Wilkin and Chris Flannery on the injured list but Anderson says they won't be looking to sign anybody. 'We will just have to hold the line and wait for the cavalry to arrive.'
In some ways it did at Bradford because skipper Paul Sculthorpe made his first appearance since rupturing an Achilles tendon last June and came through unscathed. 'I just want to play every game from now on,' said Sculthorpe.
Wakefield are also in the wars with five of their first-team squad on the casualty list.
Three of them, skipper Jason Demetriou (damaged ankle ligaments), hooker Brad Drew (broken hand) and centre Tony Martin (torn hamstring) were injured in Saturday's 34-18 defeat at Harlequins.
Wigan hooker Michael McIlorum, Hull KR veteran Stanley Gene and Catalans prop David Ferriol have all been called up in front of the RFL's disciplinary panel on Tuesday.
McIlorum and Ferriol have been charged with dangerous throws and Gene with a reckless high tackle. All could face bans.
But Saints and Great Britain half-back Leon Pryce has escaped a second charge of grabbing another player's testicles.
Pryce was banned for three matches after an incident in last year's Challenge Cup semi final against Bradford at Huddersfield.
The RFL's video review panel looked at footage of another incident during the Super League game at Bradford last Saturday but decided not to charge the player because 'contact was minimal although it was unnecessary'.
Melbourne Storm's injured Australia stand off Greg Inglis has been reprimanded by his club after a reported altercation outside a Brisbane hotel over the weekend.
Melbourne's chief executive Brian Waldron, who is in England with the Storm squad preparing for Friday's world club challenge against Leeds Rhinos, said in a statement: 'We are extremely disappointed that Greg has been involved in this incident.
'He has acted irresponsibly and outside the boundaries of what is expected from anyone associated with the Melbourne Storm.'
Inglis, who was left behind in Australia to continue his rehabilitation from a shoulder operation, may now face disciplinary action by his club.
