The Brazilian-born Santos punished sloppy defending from Bafana Bafana and scored in the sixth minute and 33rd minutes. Ben Saada scored in the 31st after Santos' shot came back off the post.

Substitute Katlega Mphela scored a consolation goal for South Africa from close range in the 87th.
Tunisia and Angola are even at the top of Group D with four points each and need only a point each to reach the quarter-finals when they meet on Thursday.
Santos has only recently recovered from a long-term knee injury and has started only one league game for French club Toulouse this season, but he put the 2004 African champions ahead by heading in Ben Saada's cross after South Africa failed to clear a corner.
South Africa came back and Nasief Morris headed over from Steven Pienaar's free kick in the 21st, and Tunisia captain Radhi Jaidi timed his tackle well to prevent Teko Modise from running onto a long kick from goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs.
But Bafana Bafana's poor defending twice allowed Santos room. First, he collected a loose ball just inside the penalty area and his quick shot struck the post. The rebound fell to Ben Saada and he finished low into the corner.
Two minutes later, a mistake at the back allowed Santos to intercept a back pass, get around Josephs, and take his time before picking his spot in the left corner.
Morris headed off the crossbar moments after Santos had scored his second goal but Tunisia largely sat back in the second half, allowing South Africa to come forward and hitting them on the break.
That almost led to another goal in the 63rd when Yasin Chikhaoui broke down the right, held off his defender, cut inside the area and gave Santos an easy tap in, but the striker slipped and could not force the ball over the line.
