Sarkozy plans to get cosy with Wenger at Arsenal's training ground

French president Nicolas Sarkozy is to meet Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger at the club's London Colney training ground at the end of the month.

Besides a dream photo opportunity alongside French national stars William Gallas, Matthieu Flamini and the rest of the kings elect of European football, Sarkozy reportedly wishes to quiz his compatriot about football and "social cohesion".

French lesson: Sarkozy will quiz Wenger about 'social cohesion' in his team of nations

The meeting, which will occur at some point during the president's state visit to Britain from March 26-28, has been revealed by the newspaper, France Football. It will occur between Arsenal's away trips to Chelsea and Bolton Wanderers.

Don't bet against Gordon Brown too being wheeled out on to the London Colney training pitch to share his old football reminiscences of standing on the terraces at Stark's Park to watch the Raith Rovers of his youth.

Apparently Sarkozy, an amateur player in his youth, has noticed that Wenger has five Frenchmen, 11 French-speakers and 16 different nationalities in his Arsenal squad.

He believes that Wenger, who is from Alsace, can teach him lessons about integrating those from a variety of cultures and social backgrounds into a cohesive unit.

English lesson: Theo Walcott lays on Arsenal's second goal for Adebayor in the San Siro

Needless to say, the summit meeting will be conducted in French, so the most that Theo Walcott can expect from the train of passing French dignitaries will be a cursory "Et que'est-ce que vous faites?" ("And what do you do?").

After his contribution to the conquest of Milan in the San Siro last night, Walcott might well reply: "Don't you know who I am?"
