Scharner close to three-year Wigan deal after easing wage demands

Wigan manager Steve Bruce is talking Paul Scharner into signing a new long-term deal - and dropping his wage demands.

The Austrian star, voted the club's Player of the Year, is now close to agreeing terms on a three-year contract after his intitial £40,000-a-week demands put the deal in jeopardy.
