Scotland legend Souness throws his hat in the ring for Ireland job

Graeme Souness has revealed he would be interested in succeeding Steve Staunton as Republic of Ireland manager.

The former Liverpool and Newcastle boss dropped out of the running for the Bolton job last week and will hold talks with Milan Mandaric over the Leicester vacancy this week.

But Souness has not ruled out a move to international football either, saying: "If I was offered the Ireland job, I would be very interested.

"Why wouldn't any manager be keen on leading such a great country's football team, working with a squad which I believe has a lot of potential?"
