Scu's View - Dempsey to knock out rivals

Dempsey's best is invariably shown at Sandown — he prefers right-handed tracks — and he has a great record there, winning three of his five races.

Knockout: Dempsey can end champion trainer Paul Nicholls' season on a high
His second to Voy Por Ustedes in the Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival proved he is one of the best two-mile chasers around.
He is the clear pick in the Betfred Celebration Chase ahead of last year's winner River City.
Rival Yes Sir is back showing better form and you have to respect anything that his trainer Peter Bowen runs at the moment. But he won over 2m 4f at Ayr last weekend and, back in August, was scoring over 3m 2f.
Things did not pan out for Reveillez earlier in the season but he was hugely impressive when winning a chase at the Grand National meeting at Aintree.
On that form, he looks very well handicapped in the Betfred Gold Cup and I'm confident his unproven stamina will not be his undoing.
Scottish National winner Hot Weld will find this a tougher assignment and, although Alderburn has his supporters, I see Cornish Sett as the biggest threat.
He was staying on really well over three miles when second to Simon in the Racing Post Chase and the extra trip should play to his strengths. Stable jockey Ruby Walsh chooses him from the three Paul Nicholls entries.
I was at Haydock when SASSO (Sandown, 2.10) put in a run which suggests he is returning to form and he has claims in the opener.
SELF RESPECT (Market Rasen, 2.00) jumped badly right at Cheltenham last time which ruined his chance so running at the right-handed Lincolnshire track should suit.
SCU'S SELECTIONS:
Self Respect (Market Rasen, 2.00)
Sasso (Sandown, 2.10)
Dempsey (Sandown, 2.40)
Reveillez (Sandown, 3.20)
