Selectors unsure on keeper conundrum

Ambrose scored a vital century during the Second Test in Wellington when Michael Vaughan's team were in real danger of being swept away by the Kiwis. But, despite that innings and some good work behind the stumps, England's latest keeper is being kept waiting for a central contract.
The selectors could have awarded the 25-year-old a summer deal but, instead, have named three glovemen (Ambrose, Phil Mustard and Matt Prior) in their 26-man strong 'Performance Squad' for the new season.
Like Ambrose, fast bowler Stuart Broad is also waiting for a central contract despite his encouraging display in New Zealand.
"We were delighted with the progress made by several of our younger players during the winter but have decided not to award six-month summer contracts to any individuals at this stage," said national selector Geoff Miller.
New names on the list include former Test batsman Rob Key and highly-rated young leg-spinner Adil Rashid.
