Shane gives Ireland the ideal parting gift against the Barbarians

Ireland will head Down Under full of confidence after man-of-the match Shane Horgan led them to a 39-14 victory over the Barbarians at Kingsholm.

Caretaker Michael Bradley will be in charge against New Zealand and Australia next month before he is succeeded by Declan Kidney, who will have been reassured by Ireland's ambition.

Despite fielding a team missing their contingent from European champions Munster, they produced an impressive performance, in which captain Horgan and Jamie Heaslip scored two tries apiece.

The Barbarians touched down either side of the break but looked decidedly rusty early on and fared little better despite making fewer mistakes in a feisty second half.
