Shattered Mo Farah out of Commonweath Games

Mo Farah has withdrawn from the Commonwealth Games to take a break after the distance runner's gold medal exploits at the European Championships.

Farah, who won the 5,000m and 10,000m in Barcelona, is going to rest up instead of representing England in Delhi next month.

Farah, 27, said: "I had a great 2010 season and my body is telling me that it is time to take a break. I need a few weeks off to let my body recover so that I can start winter training fit and healthy.

I have been getting a few niggles, nothing serious but enough to tell me to ease back.

"I was looking forward to the Commonwealth Games but after the success I had I am happy to call it a season."
