Show me the money, Sven urges Thaksin

Sven Goran Eriksson has urged Manchester City owner Thaksin Shinawatra to reveal the size of the club's January transfer budget so he can draw up a list of targets.

Eriksson's £40million summer spree has helped City to their best start in decades, but he has warned the club's Thai owner he is only in the market for big-name players.

"I am told there is money available, but how much I don't know yet,' said the former England manager.

"It's vital to know what the spending figure will be. If we want to strengthen, then we have to be very clever about it. We have to buy top, top class and that will cost a lot."
