Size matters to Moyes - but having his key players fit is even more important

David Moyes is still looking for Everton to improve despite a four-game winning streak.

"We are trying to play better football this season," said Moyes.

"There are a lot of things we need to put right but we are close to reaching a semi-final and having an Everton team who can finish higher in the table more regularly. That's what we all want.

"I was a bit concerned because James [Vaughan] has not had a reserve game and he had to miss a practice match because of a thigh strain so we have had to bring him back a little bit early on Saturday.

"It might take a month to get the rustiness out of James but he gives us a different option to the other strikers. He is a very conscientious boy and will continue to improve.

"He is desperate to play and is a bit of a throwback in that respect. There's technical stuff he needs to work on, because he's missed a good part of his early development because of injuries, but work-rate and enthusiasm are never a problem. He wants it badly and is good enough to force his way in and stay in.

"We have missed James, AJ and Tim Cahill and we might have picked up a few more league points with them.

"Size comes into my thinking because my midfield players are not that big and sometimes that affects which other players I have to put into the team."
