Coventry have confirmed striker Michael Mifsud is in talks with Coca-Cola Championship rivals Bristol City after the clubs agreed a fee for the player.
The Robins have been given permission to discuss terms with the Malta international, who scored 17 goals for the Sky Blues last season, after the player handed in a transfer request at the Ricoh Arena.
'The Mosquito' shot to prominence last season when he hit both goals in Coventry's Carling Cup win over .
Ironically, his place will be taken by new signing Freddy Eastwood, whose goal for Southend put United out of the competition 12 months earlier.
Taking the Michael: Championship clubs have been put on alert after Michael Mifsud handed in a transfer request at Coventry City.
Coventry boss Chris Coleman said: 'I spoke with Michael this week and he feels
it is time for him to move on.'
Meanwhile, Bristol City could pull out of a club record £1.5m deal to buy Egyptian striker Emad Meteb.
Meteb, 25, agreed a three-year contract at Ashton Gate last week, but then played for his club Al-Ahly in a derby match on Sunday against City's wishes.
Manager Gary Johnson was shocked to hear Meteb played all 90 minutes of the game against Zimalek and is now considering his options.
