Smith declares himself tired of the Naismith saga

Smith, who has already made eight new signings, insisted Rangers' interest in the 20-year-old Kilmarnock striker is 'finished' after he withdrew a fourth and final offer two weeks ago.
Fed up: Rangers boss Walter Smith
With relations between Ibrox and Rugby Park understood to be at a modern-day low, there seems no imminent chance of the SPFA Young Player of the Year moving up the M77.
And with the first European signing deadline just three days away, Smith - who has also been linked with Hibernian right-back Steven Whittaker - slammed the door on any more new signings.
"It looks as if we will go with what we have before the deadline, which we are happy to do as long as everyone stays fit," said Smith, speaking ahead of tonight's friendly with Ajax at Ibrox.
"I am fed up with it (the Naismith speculation). It's finished with. We withdrew our offer a fortnight ago and that is it. I have to concentrate on the Champions League."
Naismith's agent, Andrew McCormick, last night took a swipe at Kilmarnock chairman Michael Johnston for ruining his client's dream move to Ibrox.
He said: "Steven has reached the end of his tether and needs to leave. He's disillusioned with the treatment he has received from the chairman.
"Steven's father has already expressed concerns about his son's health because his head is in such a mess he can't get to sleep."
The deadline for signings for next week's Champions League second round first-leg tie against FK Zeta or FBK Kaunas is midnight on Thursday night.
Should Rangers progress to the third qualifying round, the deadline for signings would be August 8 - with the transfer window, of course, closing on August 31.
But Smith has hinted that one or two fringe players may have to be off-loaded before he can add to his close-season arrivals.
