BRASIL DE PELOTAS 1983: A club also known as Gremio Esportivo Brasil is his next brief stop.

ESPORTE CLUBE PELOTAS 1986: Back to Brazil and back to the southern city of Pelotas.
JUVENTUDE 1986-87: His second spell at Juventude but silverware eludes him.
GREMIO 1987: First crack at one of Brazil's major sides, the club he grew up supporting. Wins the State Championship.
GOIAS EC 1988: Fails to win the State Championship, finishes 13th in the national league.
AL QADISIYA (Kuwait) 1988-90: Fails to win the Kuwait Premier League but wins the prestigious Emir Cup in 1989. Football suspended during the Gulf War.
KUWAIT 1990: Scolari is employed by the Kuwait Football Federation with the Gulf Cup in mind and he wins the trophy.
CORITIBA 1990: First stop back in South America is in the southern city of Curitiba.

AL QADISIYA (Kuwait) 1992: Returns to Kuwait after Gulf War and wins the Premier League. Beaten on penalties in Emir Cup final.
GREMIO 1993-96: Fashions team in his aggressive style to win the Copa do Brasil, the State title and the Copa Libertadores (South American Champions League). Brazilian champions in 1996.
JUBILO IWATA (Japan) 1997: Scolari lasts only 11 games. He wins six and loses five. Returns to Brazil.
PALMEIRAS 1997-2000: Wins his second Copa Libertadores, beating Deportivo Cali in the final. Wins the Copa do Brasil in '98 and is second in the '97 national championship.
CRUZEIRO 2000-01: His only trophy is the Copa Sul-Minas, an interstate competition.
BRAZIL 2001-02: Takes reins with the World Cup qualification campaign in disarray and fears that the country may fail to reach the finals for the first time. He knocks a few egos into place, rides a storm for failing to pick Romario and masterminds World Cup victory. Steps down immediately.
PORTUGAL Dec 2002 - Jun 08: Survives throwing a left hook at Serbian Ivica Dragutinovic. Initially claims he 'never touched him', apologises, pays his fine and serves two-match ban. Portugal's most successful coach, taking them into their first major final (Euro 2004) but beaten by Greece. Reaches the World Cup semi-final in 2006.
