Spurs in crisis talks over unsettled Berbatov

Tottenham's under-pressure sporting director Damien Comolli will hold crisis talks over Dimitar Berbatov's future today.

Berbatov's agent flew into London last night and will meet Comolli 'for a coffee' as fears grow that the striker will demand a move in January.

New Spurs head coach Juande Ramos, who dropped the Bulgarian for the 1-1 draw at Middlesbrough on Saturday, is not expected to be at the meeting.

On the bench: Berbatov at the Riverside

Tottenham expected an instant improvement from Berbatov, 26, in the wake of manager Martin Jol's departure 10 days ago, but Ramos has not been impressed with the player's attitude.

Berbatov started the Spaniard's first game in charge — a rocky 2-0 victory over Championship strugglers Blackpool in the Carling Cup — but he did not do enough to start at the Riverside.

That has prompted talks between Berbatov's agent, Emil Dantchev, and the club this afternoon. Dantchev said: "I will have coffee with Damien and we will talk about Berbatov's future.

"I cannot and do not want to say any more."

Comolli, having chosen Ramos as the man to revive Tottenham, has taken an increasingly influential role following Jol's departure and will be expected to deliver.

Chairman Daniel Levy has left no one at the club in doubt that Ramos is Comolli's appointment.
